All set for UMA-Heroes Cup Cagefest

Aiming to generate positive values for a healthy mind, body and spirit, the United Filipino Sports Association and Dammam Basketball League (UFSA-DBL) joined hands together in bringing the most talked about basketball event at the Al-Nahda Sports Club Friday.

"With our off-season reorganization, I can say that this will be an event to remember. We offer good officiating and balance competition," said Tournament Commissioner Jojo "Big J" Dizon.

"We named it Heroes Cup because we offer this tournament to our fellow Filipinos whose passion is to play basketball," added Dizon.

During the sponsorships signing, the UFSA-DBL organizing committee thanked Universal Motor Agencies (UMA) and Salim Khan, UMA's Business Development Manager, for their support to the group and its activities in the Eastern Region.

Aside from United Motor Agency, the tournament is supported by Sky Freight Forwarders, Hempel Paints, McDonald's Restaurant, Chowking Restaurant, BAI Aluminum Façade Specialist, The Filipino Channel (TFC), and GMA Pinoy Plus.

The confirmed participants are: Al-Bahar Restaurant, Al-Dossary Hospital, Al-Khathlan, Al-Kuhaimi Metals, Al-Mojil Group, Al-Safami, Al-Saffar Tigers, Al-Tuwairqi Group, Applebees, APSCO , Arabian Nights, Arcan Vita, Al-Balubaid, Bin Quraya, Bisdak, Chowking Restaurant, Dammam Warrior, Debras Co. (Nuggets), Gentex, GCRF Redeemer, Insuns 40's, Insuns Redmenizers, Insuns Selection, Middle East Battery, NALCO, Pangasinan Waves, Protect Wizards, Rizal Pirates, Siong Dollar, Solano and Company, Tropang Khobar, UFSA-DBL All Star, Uniofied Company, Senddex Express, and Universal Motor Agency.

The five-month competition will see action in Inter Company Rated Category, Division C Non Rated Class, and Inter Barkadahan 40 years old above. The tournament is being officiated by Basketball Referee Association of Dammam (BRAD).

This Friday's opening ceremonies will feature competition in Best Team Uniform Award, Most Organized Team Award; plus special guest performer to entertain the crowd.

Together with Dizon as commissioner are Ely Panahon (chairman), Tanny Delis (director general), Victor Delos Santos (finance director), Vitor Metran and Manny Principe (technical directors), Willy Fajardo (league adviser) and Khalid Al-Enezy (league consultant), while members of the technical committee include Arnold Valdez, Jack Zanoria, Toto Iremedio, Pasky Valentin, Daile Carlos Dizon, Danny Santos and Edward Capulso.
